Senior Finance Manager

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to lead the financial operations of the ReSET programme in Uganda. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, you will ensure that all accounting and financial management activities comply with IRC policies and donor requirements, supporting the delivery of lifesaving assistance and self‑reliance initiatives for refugees and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations for the ReSET project, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for internal and donor stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with IRC financial policies, donor regulations, and local accounting standards.
• Manage cash flows, grant funding, and procurement payments in line with the cash‑first principle.
• Coordinate with program teams, OPM, UN agencies, and consortium partners on financial matters.
• Supervise and develop finance staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
• Support audit processes and respond to audit findings.

Required profile

• Executive‑level qualification with at least 12 years of progressive finance experience.
• Proven experience in financial management within NGOs or humanitarian programmes.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and donor compliance.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, high‑pressure environment.
