About the role
The Accountant assists the Head of Finance and Planning in managing the university’s accounts and overall financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Manage monthly revenues and cash flow.
- Compile and present monthly financial reports for management.
- Prepare payment vouchers for approval in line with budgetary controls.
- Assist in the university budgeting process and monitor approved budgets.
- Oversee monthly payroll processing prior to disbursement.
- Disburse university funds against approved vouchers.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and reporting to donors and stakeholders.
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls.
- Participate in project proposal development, including budget design and review.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance and Planning.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- Level 3 qualification of ACCA or CPA.
- Minimum five years experience as a senior accounts assistant in a reputable institution.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Tally.
- Experience designing and delivering finance policies and systems.
- Ability to analyse financial data and communicate findings to non‑finance staff.
