Technical Sales Engineer – Uganda

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to lead our PPE business across Uganda. You will combine deep product knowledge with consultative selling to help industrial, construction, mining and oil & gas clients meet their safety obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute a territory‑based sales strategy targeting key industrial sectors.
• Generate leads through cold outreach, site visits, referrals and industry events.
• Conduct needs assessments and provide technical consultations to EHS managers, procurement officers and plant managers.
• Prepare detailed technical proposals, Bills of Quantities and competitive tenders.
• Negotiate and close contracts while protecting company margins and meeting revenue targets.
• Maintain expert‑level knowledge of Kema East Africa’s PPE portfolio and advise on international and Ugandan standards.
• Deliver on‑site product demonstrations, PPE audits and hazard assessments.
• Manage key accounts, provide training, and develop restocking plans.
• Monitor market trends, conduct competitor analysis and report weekly and monthly pipeline updates.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of technical sales experience in industrial safety or related sectors.
• Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with senior technical and procurement stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Uganda’s Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA 2006) and UNBS requirements.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PPE standards: EN 388, EN 166, ANSI Z87.1, EN ISO 11612, ISO, EN, ANSI/ISEA, NFPA, UNBS.
• Technical proposal writing and Bill of Quantities preparation.
• Product demonstrations, PPE audits and hazard assessments.
• Regulatory guidance on PPE selection.
