Theatre Attendant

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is hiring a full-time Theatre Attendant in Kampala (Kamwokya). The role supports surgical and nursing teams in preparing and maintaining operating rooms, equipment, instruments and patient transport so that surgical procedures run efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with the necessary equipment and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment.
• Maintain sterility by following infection prevention protocols, sterilising equipment and keeping the operating room clean.
• Manage equipment and clean surgical instruments.
• Assist with patient positioning, transport and preparation for surgery, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Monitor and restock surgical supplies and consumables.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment, linen and theatre stock.
• Handle used instruments after surgery, send them to the CSSD, and collect sterile packs from the CSSD.
• Keep the theatre environment safe, clean and comfortable.

Required profile

• O-Level (Uganda Certificate of Education) or equivalent.
• A certificate in a relevant healthcare attendant field is an added advantage.
