Universal Banker (Maker & Checker) – 4 Openings

About the role

We are building a talent pipeline for Universal Banker positions in Uganda. The role supports branch operations in Kampala by delivering efficient customer service, processing and checking transactions, managing cash and vault activities, and ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Process, review and approve customer transactions such as cash and cheque deposits, withdrawals, inter‑account transfers, currency exchange and other branch banking services.
• Handle Telegraphic Transfer, Electronic Funds Transfer, Real Time Gross Settlement, customer drafts, cheque books, card services, stop‑payment and static data instructions accurately and within required timelines.
• Manage cash within approved limits, balance cash against daily journals, support reconciliation of cash and general ledger accounts, and perform vault or float custodian duties as required.
• Provide professional, customer‑focused service, addressing queries and complaints within agreed turnaround times.
• Promote digital migration by encouraging use of online platforms and assisting customers with related issues.
• Identify opportunities to refer customers to relevant bank products, including deposits and unsecured lending.
• Ensure compliance with AML, CDD, KYC, data protection, audit and conduct requirements, and appropriately escalate operational or risk matters.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant experience in banking, branch operations or customer service.
• Strong understanding of transaction processing, cash handling and reconciliation.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure while maintaining high standards of integrity.
