About the role
The University Librarian will provide strategic direction and leadership to advance the university’s teaching and research mission through emerging library technologies and effective management of library services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the review, formulation, and implementation of progressive library policies and strategic initiatives.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate the library’s annual strategic work plan and budget performance, ensuring cost‑effectiveness.
- Identify, acquire, process, and disseminate both online and physical library resources.
- Oversee library databases, subscriptions, and ensure compliance with intellectual property and copyright laws.
- Implement security measures for library resources and develop information‑literacy training programmes.
- Recruit, supervise, train, and manage performance of all library staff, building a strong team.
- Engage with faculty, students, university leadership, and external library associations.
Required profile
- Minimum of 72 months (6 years) experience in academic library management.
- Proven ability to provide strategic and operational leadership in a university setting.
- Experience in budgeting, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of library resource acquisition, cataloguing, and information services.
- Demonstrated competence in supervising and developing library personnel.
