Adolescents' Skills Development Officer

About the role

The Adolescents' Skills Development Officer will support UNICEF’s Basic Education and Adolescent Development (BEAD) programme in Uganda, working to expand access to 21st‑century transferable skills for adolescents, especially the most marginalized, and to reduce the NEET population.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Ministry of Education and Sports and partner organisations to design and implement adolescent skills training modules.
• Collect and analyse evidence from field implementation to inform policy and programme adjustments.
• Facilitate the institutionalisation of life‑skills toolkits and social‑entrepreneurship curricula within formal and non‑formal education systems.
• Monitor and report on progress towards age‑appropriate learning outcomes for girls and boys aged 3‑19.
• Support knowledge‑sharing and capacity‑building activities for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in Education, Social Development, Youth Development or related field.
• Experience working on adolescent programmes, skills development or education projects in low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by NEET youth and inclusive education.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of life‑skills curricula and transferable‑skills frameworks.
• Experience with data collection, monitoring and evaluation.
• Familiarity with human‑centred design and social‑entrepreneurship concepts.
