Agricultural Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking motivated Agricultural Officers to implement its Food Systems and Economic Self‑Reliance project in several districts of Uganda. The role focuses on delivering Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) training, supporting community farmer groups, and ensuring high‑quality technical implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise communities and identify target participants for CSA activities.
• Support Agriculture Assistants in participant selection and maintain accurate participant databases.
• Conduct technical trainings on enterprise selection, CSA practices, and Good Agricultural Practices.
• Establish block/cluster gardens and perma‑gardens using the Resilience Design Approach.
• Organise community meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote sustainable agriculture.
• Develop and deliver educational materials on ecosystem restoration, recycling, composting, and water conservation.
• Mentor community environmental champions and collaborate with schools for environmental education.
• Assist in the distribution of project inputs such as cash transfers and agro‑business materials.

Required profile

• Highly qualified and motivated individual with experience in agricultural project implementation.
• Strong ability to engage and mobilise rural communities.
• Knowledge of Climate Smart Agriculture, Good Agricultural Practices, and resilience‑based design.
• Excellent communication skills for training and community outreach.
