Apprentice Application Support Analyst (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

This six‑month apprenticeship offers hands‑on experience supporting core banking applications and digital channels for Absa Group in Kampala. You will work closely with IT teams to ensure applications remain available, reliable and aligned with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on application availability, reliability and maintainability.
• Facilitate delivery changes and support release activities for core systems.
• Provide holistic support to business users and reduce incident frequency and duration.
• Generate and share operational reports for stakeholders.
• Perform database administration and proactive capability analysis of core servers.
• Support digital‑channel applications and automate business processes.
• Design and implement new applications that coexist with existing systems.
• Collaborate with Release Analysts, conduct testing (functional, performance, integration, UAT, back‑out) and validate results.
• Maintain documentation, review release test deliverables and support post‑release activities.
• Build relationships with IT Risk and Governance teams and contribute to risk‑management improvements.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or candidate with minimal experience (approximately 1 month) seeking an IT apprenticeship.
• Strong analytical mindset and willingness to learn application support processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced banking environment.
• Commitment to a six‑month full‑time engagement.
