Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support senior quantity surveyors on a range of construction projects, starting with a link road scheme. The role involves commercial management tasks such as cost control, contract administration and financial reporting while providing on‑site experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day support to Senior Quantity Surveyors.
• Assist in preparing contracts, project documentation, budgets, cost plans and bills of quantities.
• Undertake on‑site measurements and take measurements from drawings.
• Support cost monitoring, reporting and financial control.
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Carry out feasibility studies for client requests and prepare estimates and tender submissions.
• Analyse subcontractor quotations and support procurement processes.
• Manage variations, agree final accounts and issue payment certificates.
• Assist in resolving commercial disputes with appropriate documentation.

• Confidence working with diverse stakeholders in a live construction environment.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.

Required skills

• NEC contracts knowledge.
• On‑site measurement techniques.
• Measurement from drawings.
