Associate Consultant - Cardiac Anaesthesia

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is hiring an Associate Consultant in Cardiac Anaesthesia in Kampala. The consultant provides specialised anaesthesia services to cardiac patients undergoing cardiac procedures, covering preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management and postoperative critical care, with the aim of ensuring patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Implement patient care plans.
• Conduct ward rounds in the specialty area.
• Participate in training programmes for health professionals.
• Supervise medical officers, interns and trainees.
• Identify the department's procurement needs for equipment, drugs and other logistics.
• Prepare departmental workplans, budgets and reports.

Required profile

• MB.Ch.B. from a recognised university or institution.
• Master of Medicine degree in Anaesthesia or its equivalent from a recognised institution.
• Fellowship or equivalent qualification in Cardiac Anaesthesia.
• Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council and holding a valid practicing licence.
• At least three years of working experience in General Anaesthesia.
