Associate Consultant - Paediatric Cardiology

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is hiring an Associate Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology in Kampala. The role provides specialised paediatric cardiac care to infants and children with cardiovascular conditions through accurate diagnosis, treatment and ongoing follow-up, with the aim of improving cardiovascular health outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions.
• Conduct ward rounds in the specialty area.
• Participate in training programmes for health professionals in Paediatric Cardiology.
• Supervise medical officers, interns and trainees.
• Identify the department's procurement needs for equipment, drugs and other logistics.
• Take part in preparing departmental workplans, budgets and reports.
• Prepare duty rosters.

Required profile

• MB.Ch.B. or equivalent from a recognised university.
• Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent from a recognised university.
• Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiology or a Master's in Paediatric Cardiology from a recognised institution.
• Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council and holds a valid practicing licence.
• At least three years of working experience at Medical Officer level.
