Associate Consultant Radiologist

About the role

The Uganda Heart Institute is hiring an Associate Consultant Radiologist in Kampala to deliver specialist radiology services through diagnostic imaging, with a focus on cardiovascular and related conditions. The role supports accurate diagnosis, treatment planning and ongoing patient management while ensuring high quality, safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Consultant and help manage the specialty services efficiently at the Institute.
• Work with Medical Imaging Technologists, Radiographers, Sonographers and other allied health professionals to deliver imaging services.
• Lead film discussion sessions in the Imaging Department units.
• Oversee schedules for preventive equipment maintenance.
• Supervise and train Medical Officers and other health professionals, and take part in their training and continuing medical education.
• Plan and conduct operational research in the specialty and take part in managing referral systems.
• Ensure discipline and ethical standards among subordinate staff, seek technical advice from the supervising consultant, and advise on procurement of equipment, drugs and logistics.

Required profile

• MB.Ch.B. degree or equivalent from a recognized university, plus an MSc in Medicine or Master of Medicine in Radiology.
• Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council and holding a valid practicing license.
• Minimum of three years of relevant working experience; evidence of research is an added advantage.
