Associate Relationship Manager – Trade Finance

About the role

Finance Trust Bank is seeking an Associate Relationship Manager for Trade Finance to develop and execute trade finance strategies, ensuring high‑quality products and services across its business segments.

Key responsibilities

• Drive growth of the bank’s trade finance business by offering innovative, best‑in‑class product suites.
• Design, develop, and enhance funded and non‑funded trade finance products while adhering to policies, processes and turnaround times.
• Deliver customer value propositions to meet the bank’s financial objectives.
• Leverage trade finance lines to increase bank deposits.
• Oversee day‑to‑day trade finance operations across segments for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Identify market opportunities to foster innovation and competitive advantage.
• Provide expert advice and support to staff and clients on trade finance solutions.
• Implement risk management strategies to identify, assess and mitigate trade finance risks.
• Collaborate with compliance, legal, and other business units to ensure governance and cross‑selling.
• Develop trade transactions, negotiate term sheets and manage the full process flow from origination to contracting.
• Liaise with Operations and Credit departments to ensure timely disbursement.
• Manage the trade finance portfolio in line with agreement terms and client satisfaction.
• Work with distribution channels and segment heads to identify wallet opportunities and growth strategies.
• Train relationship officers and managers on trade products and needs identification.
• Prepare training materials and drive skill development across the bank.
• Ensure timely resolution of client onboarding and service issues.
• Maintain full compliance with KYC, AML and Bank of Uganda regulations.
• Identify and escalate potential risks in client relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, commerce, business administration, economics, statistics, management or a related field.
