Business Development Specialist – Logistics

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a Business Development Specialist to drive new business opportunities and expand market share in Uganda. You will work closely with local and regional teams to identify prospects, develop tailored proposals, and close deals that align with the company’s growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Execute business development plans to achieve revenue targets and customer growth.
• Conduct market and feasibility studies to assess potential opportunities.
• Identify and engage decision‑makers at target companies, understanding their strategic challenges.
• Prepare and present proposals, negotiate terms, and close new contracts.
• Maintain and nurture relationships with prospects and key accounts.
• Coordinate with inside sales, product management, and regional management to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Provide market intelligence on competitors and industry trends.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 2 years of relevant experience in business development or sales.
• Strong understanding of logistics, freight forwarding, or related sectors.
• Proven ability to conduct market research and develop strategic proposals.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
