Card Portfolio Specialist

About the role

The Card Portfolio Specialist will lead growth, profitability and optimisation of the card business across two subsidiaries in Uganda. Reporting to the Group Head of Cards, the role focuses on enhancing the customer value proposition, accelerating digital adoption and delivering data‑driven strategies to sustain portfolio performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and optimise portfolio performance, tracking metrics such as transaction approval rates, spend growth, credit utilisation and pricing effectiveness.
• Design and execute data‑driven customer campaigns for acquisition, activation and spend stimulation.
• Lead end‑to‑end sales and marketing initiatives, coordinating with channel, marketing, IT and operations teams.
• Drive product innovation and refine card value propositions in partnership with internal teams and Mastercard.
• Manage digital adoption initiatives to increase usage of digital channels and solutions.
• Own portfolio financial performance, providing regular reporting and escalating risks or gaps.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of experience in card payments within retail banking.
• Proven track record in card product business development and portfolio optimisation.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluent English and knowledge of local banking environment.
