Chief Technology Officer

About the role

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will lead Jaribu Consult Ltd’s technology function from its headquarters in Kampala. Reporting to the executive team, the CTO defines the overall tech vision, drives product development and ensures that solutions meet client and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the technology roadmap aligned with company strategy.
• Oversee software development projects, set coding and architecture standards, and ensure high‑quality, on‑time delivery.
• Lead, mentor and grow cross‑functional technical teams, fostering a collaborative culture.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on IT strategy, budgeting, tool evaluation and security/compliance policies.
• Represent the technology function in client meetings, support pre‑sales activities and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Strong background in software development and system architecture with hands‑on experience building scalable, secure applications.
• Proven project‑management skills, including planning, resource allocation and risk management for complex initiatives.
• Experience shaping IT strategy and product development to support business goals.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field; advanced degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
