Commercial Director

About the role

The Commercial Director sits on the hotel’s Executive Committee and is accountable for driving commercial performance, market leadership and sustainable revenue growth across all business segments. The role provides strategic leadership for Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Reservations, Distribution and MICE to achieve revenue, profitability, market share and brand positioning objectives in Uganda and the wider region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the hotel’s sales, marketing and revenue management strategies.
• Oversee reservations, distribution channels and MICE operations to maximise occupancy and revenue.
• Develop and implement commercial plans that increase market share and profitability.
• Monitor and analyse performance metrics to ensure brand positioning targets are met.
• Drive cross‑functional collaboration to support business transformation and pre‑opening projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of progressive commercial experience in hospitality, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a luxury or internationally branded hotel.
• Proven track record of delivering revenue growth and profitability in a 5‑star hotel environment.
• Experience leading business transformation, repositioning, commercial turn‑around or pre‑opening projects is an advantage.
• Strong ability to manage multi‑segment portfolios and high‑performing teams.
