Commercial & Finance Trainee

About the role

Volcafe is offering a two‑year Commercial & Finance Trainee programme based in Kampala, Uganda. The programme provides hands‑on learning across the coffee supply chain, with rotations in sourcing, production, quality, trading, logistics and finance.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in rotational assignments covering sourcing/purchasing, production operations, quality control, trading, logistics, sustainability and finance.
• Support analytical and research tasks related to commodity trading and market analysis.
• Collaborate with mentors and programme sponsors to develop business acumen.
• Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Be prepared for short‑term global relocations and flexible working hours during harvest periods.

Required profile

• BA or MBA in Business, Finance, Economics or International Trade.
• Business‑level proficiency in English (verbal and written).
• Valid driver’s licence and passport with unrestricted global travel.
• Citizen or permanent resident of Uganda, Tanzania or Kenya.
• Willingness to relocate internationally on short notice and work flexible hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with Power BI (desirable).
