About the role
The Conservation Law Enforcement Advisor will lead the development of law‑enforcement capability in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda. Working closely with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) partners, the Advisor will ensure ranger forces are organised, trained, equipped and able to enforce conservation law effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee analysis‑led law‑enforcement operations and ensure field data is processed for strategic decision‑making.
- Establish the Ishasha Operations Room as the central hub for protected‑area management and law‑enforcement activities.
- Manage operational monitoring, communications and site‑based analysts in the Information Analysis Cell.
- Set up and maintain basic law‑enforcement infrastructure, including accommodation, training areas and an armoury.
- Develop and deliver a bespoke training curriculum aligned with national and WCS standards to achieve Initial Operating Capability.
- Implement conservation technologies such as EarthRanger‑SMART integration, antipoaching cameras and drones.
Required profile
- Proven ability to lead capacity‑building initiatives for conservation law enforcement.
- Experience working in remote, complex protected‑area environments.
- Strong collaboration skills with multiple departmental and regional teams.
