Data Engineering Lead – NDWH Stabilization & Pipelines

About the role

The Data Engineering Lead will drive the stabilization of Uganda's National Data Warehouse (NDWH) and design robust source‑to‑warehouse pipelines. Working closely with the Ministry of Health’s Directorate of Health Informatics and existing NDWH teams, you will ensure the data warehouse reliably supports national analytics, dashboards, and decision‑making across the DART project.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical efforts to stabilize the NDWH and improve data pipeline reliability.
• Design, build, and optimise source‑to‑warehouse ETL pipelines.
• Enhance data model performance, data quality, lineage tracking, and data mart development.
• Collaborate with MOH/DHI stakeholders to align data solutions with national reporting and analytics needs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the NDWH team.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data engineering initiatives in large‑scale data warehouse environments.
• Strong understanding of health‑sector data standards and government data governance.
• Ability to work onsite in Kampala with national and regional travel as required.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
