District Engineer – Civil Engineering Management

About the role

The District Engineer coordinates and manages all engineering and technical works within the district, providing technical leadership and ensuring compliance with standards and policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and guidance to stakeholders.
• Prepare technical specifications for contracts.
• Supervise all technical works undertaken in the district.
• Prepare work plans and budgets for district engineering projects.
• Approve building and other structural plans.
• Develop and maintain water and sanitation systems.
• Enforce engineering and works policies.

Required profile

• Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university.
• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Registered Engineer with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (UERB).
• Minimum 9 years of civil engineering experience, including at least 3 years at Principal Engineer level in government or equivalent.
• Age 35 years or older.
• Reports to the Chief Administrative Officer.
