Electrical Engineer – Site Construction (Uganda)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical construction activities for the Tilenga Project in Uganda. The role involves supervising installation, testing and commissioning of a wide range of high‑voltage electrical systems on‑site and off‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation, construction, hook‑up and testing of electrical works including 66 kV generators, transformers, GIS/MV/LV switchgear, AC/DC UPS, battery chargers and power management systems.
• Inspect site installations such as high‑voltage gas‑insulated switchgear, MCCs, diesel generators, cabling, lighting, earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Oversee off‑site installations including high‑voltage transmission lines, heat‑tracing systems, power distribution for water intake stations and camp facilities.
• Participate in factory inspections and FAT for major electrical equipment on client request.
• Review technical documents, work method statements and ensure proper recording and archiving of all project documentation.
• Inspect equipment and materials used in hazardous areas and support the project leader with daily tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or higher.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in high‑voltage projects and site electrical construction.
• CompEx / IECEx certification (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of codes and standards, power generation, transmission and distribution, and electrical control and management systems.
• Excellent organizational, communication and English language skills.
• Good security awareness and ability to work effectively in a team.
