Engineering Assistant

About the role

The Engineering Assistant will support the Regional Infrastructure Engineer in delivering the Mountain Blue construction project in Northern Uganda. This role combines technical oversight, supervision of construction activities, and community engagement to ensure high‑quality infrastructure for vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Regional Engineer in overseeing technical implementation of construction projects, focusing on the Mountain Blue project.
• Supervise building and water‑system construction, from design and BoQ preparation to procurement and implementation.
• Lead community mobilisation teams to involve beneficiaries in design, construction, and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with district officials and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Monitor contractors and project staff, develop monitoring tools, and perform M&E functions for quality assurance.
• Provide technical guidance to the project team and facilitate training for community operation and maintenance committees.
• Collect data, maintain accurate records, and report weekly and monthly progress to the Regional Infrastructure Engineer and Sub‑Regional Manager.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years experience in design and construction supervision with a development agency.
• Good command of oral and written English; local language skills are a plus.
• Valid riding licence and ability to travel on site.
• Practising Christian and active church member.
