Executive Director – Hospital Leadership

About the role

The Executive Director provides ethical, mission‑aligned leadership for the Lacor Hospital Complex, overseeing the main hospital, peripheral health centres, the Health Training Institute and the Kampala logistics unit. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the role combines strategic direction, operational oversight and legal representation of the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of Board‑approved strategy, develop integrated plans, budgets and performance dashboards, and ensure mission‑relevant clinical and infrastructural investments.
• Chair the Internal Management Board, delegate authority, resolve cross‑directorate conflicts and maintain coherent oversight of all hospital units.
• Ensure organisation‑wide clinical governance, patient safety, infection control and epidemic preparedness in partnership with the Medical Director.
• Maintain ultimate accountability for financial stewardship, including realistic budgeting, internal controls, donor fund management and affordability of services.
• Represent Lacor Hospital to the Archdiocese, donors, government, universities and the community, driving resource mobilisation and partnership development.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate qualification (Master’s or equivalent) in medicine, public health, health‑services management or a related field; additional medical qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum ten years of progressive leadership experience, with at least five years at executive or director level in a complex health‑care institution.
• Proven ability to integrate strategy, operations, finance, people and risk management, and to translate Board decisions into measurable performance.
• High personal integrity, humility, moral courage and excellent written and spoken English.
