Field Agronomist – On‑site Agronomy Support in Wakiso

About the role

The Field Agronomist works full‑time on‑site in Wakiso, providing agronomic support and guidance to smallholder farmers and partners. You will assess crop health, soil and irrigation practices, and deliver practical solutions to improve yields.

Key responsibilities

• Visit farms to evaluate crop health, soil conditions and irrigation practices.
• Recommend practical interventions to boost yields and promote sustainable farming.
• Collect and analyse field data, conduct on‑farm trials and demonstrations.
• Document findings and prepare technical reports for continuous improvement.
• Deliver training sessions and workshops for farmers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams to develop agronomy programmes tailored to local needs.
• Maintain regular communication with farmers to ensure effective implementation of recommendations.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in soil science and plant nutrition with ability to diagnose issues.
• Applied knowledge of agriculture and irrigation systems, including field‑based crop management.
• Research experience designing field trials, collecting and analysing data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Soil Science or related field.
• Experience working directly with farmers or agribusinesses in an advisory or extension role.
• Willingness to work outdoors, travel regularly within Wakiso and surrounding areas.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical concepts simply.
