Energy Project Development Manager

About the role

Support the development of renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind, battery storage, hybrid power, and related grid infrastructure. Coordinate with government agencies, utilities, regulators, landowners, technical consultants, EPC partners, and local stakeholders to advance project pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assess project opportunities such as site suitability, land availability, grid connection feasibility, permitting pathways, and stakeholder support.
• Follow up on power purchase agreement discussions, tariff structures, project approvals, grid studies, and connection arrangements.
• Prepare development plans, timelines, risk registers, reports, and meeting materials.
• Organize and participate in site visits, technical meetings, government briefings, and partner discussions.
• Collect and verify local project information, including land documents, grid data, permits, environmental requirements, and community issues.
• Identify risks affecting bankability, execution, financing, or government approval and propose mitigation actions.
• Maintain regular communication with management, providing clear progress updates, recommendations, and next‑step proposals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, project management, business, law, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in Uganda’s power, renewable energy, infrastructure, utility, EPC, IPP, or energy consulting sector.
• Familiarity with Uganda’s energy institutions, regulatory environment, grid connection process, and project approval procedures.
• Strong English writing and reporting skills and ability to communicate professionally with government agencies, utilities, technical consultants, local partners, and international investors.
