Finance Officer

About the role

Alight is seeking a Finance Officer to manage day‑to‑day financial operations for its humanitarian programmes in Uganda. The role ensures accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with donor and statutory requirements while supporting efficient programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily accounting tasks, maintain accurate financial records and ledgers.
• Prepare and submit financial reports, budgets, and cash‑flow statements.
• Manage payroll administration and tax compliance.
• Monitor budgets, track expenditures and provide timely financial information to management.
• Support donor compliance, statutory reporting and internal audit processes.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks, strengthen internal controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably in NGOs or humanitarian settings.
• Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of donor regulations, statutory compliance and financial reporting standards.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with programme teams.
