Fire Alarm Dispatcher

About the role

The Fire Alarm Dispatcher supports emergency response operations for a US Navy program, monitoring fire alarm systems, receiving calls, and dispatching personnel. Based in Kampala, the role requires calm, clear communication and effective multitasking in high‑pressure situations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor fire alarm systems and respond promptly to alarm signals following established protocols.
• Receive emergency calls, prioritize and categorize incidents, and dispatch fire department personnel.
• Operate radios, telephones, and computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) systems to coordinate response activities.
• Maintain real‑time communication with responders, providing updates and instructions.
• Document all calls, dispatched units, and actions in detailed logs for reporting.
• Verify functionality of alarm systems, identify faults, and report issues for immediate resolution.
• Assist in tracking system alarms and scheduled maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with the Fire and Emergency Services team to ensure seamless coordination.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1‑3 years experience in emergency dispatch, fire service communications, or a related field.
• Certifications: Telecommunicator I, Telecommunicator II, and Hazmat Awareness (to be obtained within 12 months if not already held).
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and follow contract medical requirements.
