About the role

Safe Plates is seeking a knowledgeable Food Scientist / Food Microbiologist and a Public Health / Nutrition specialist to join the permanent panel of the Safe Plates Podcast. The panelists will appear on‑air to explain food‑safety science and its impact on families, translating technical depth into clear, engaging conversation for a broad audience.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in each podcast episode as a subject‑matter expert, discussing food‑safety risks, microbiological concerns, and nutrition implications.
• Translate complex scientific findings into simple language that listeners can understand.
• Collaborate with the podcast host and co‑panelist to plan episode topics and questions.
• Provide evidence‑based commentary on food‑supply‑chain traceability and public‑health outcomes.
• Help maintain the credibility of the show by staying current with relevant research and regulations.

Required profile

• Professional background in food science, microbiology, public health, or nutrition.
• Strong communication skills and comfort speaking to a non‑technical audience.
• Passion for improving food safety and nutrition in Africa.
• Ability to commit to a regular podcast recording schedule.
