Freelance Translators (Multiple Languages) for English Projects

About the role

Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) seeks freelance translators proficient in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Burmese, Dari, French, Georgian, Kurdish, Pashto, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish or Ukrainian, paired with English. The role supports journalism projects through written and simultaneous translation, working remotely on an as‑needed basis.

Key responsibilities

• Translate written texts from English to the selected language(s) and vice‑versa, billed per 100 words.
• Provide verbal simultaneous interpretation during online meetings and training sessions, billed per hour.
• Deliver up to 10,000 words and up to 30 hours of interpretation per language over the contract period.
• Adapt to fluctuating workload based on project needs; no minimum hours guaranteed.

Required profile

• Fluency in English and at least one of the listed languages.
• Proven translation experience, preferably with journalism or press‑freedom terminology.
• Professional journalistic experience is a plus.
• Experience working with NGOs or iNGOs is preferred.
• Flexible availability from September 2026 to June 2027.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience.
