Head of Collections – Strategy & Analytics

About the role

FairMoney is seeking a senior leader to own the end‑to‑end collections function for its mobile banking platform in Uganda. The Head of Collections – Strategy & Analytics will be responsible for cash collection, arrears management, roll‑rate optimisation and the overall economics of recovery, while shaping upstream product and risk inputs.

Key responsibilities

• Take full accountability for cash collected, arrears, roll‑rates, PAR/NPL and recovery economics.
• Design and execute a multi‑horizon collections strategy covering short‑term cash optimisation, mid‑term recovery improvement and long‑term customer behaviour change.
• Build structured, segmentation‑driven treatment strategies and incentive‑based interventions for early and late‑stage collections.
• Introduce experimentation frameworks with control‑test groups and ROI‑driven rollouts.
• Partner with Risk and Data Science to optimise roll‑rates, analyse behavioural data, measure treatment effectiveness and report transparent, decision‑ready metrics.
• Develop a high‑calibre leadership bench, upgrade talent, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Tech, CX and Risk teams, influencing decisions without waiting for alignment.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in collections, credit risk or related finance functions.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale collections strategy and analytics initiatives.
• Strong quantitative mindset with ability to translate data into actionable business decisions.
• Experience building and managing high‑performing teams in a fast‑moving fintech environment.
