Head of Cooperatives

About the role

The Head of Cooperatives will lead CIC Insurance Group’s cooperative business portfolio, shaping strategy, driving growth and ensuring sustainable insurance solutions for cooperatives and their members in Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a cooperative business strategy aligned with corporate objectives, targeting SACCOs, unions and other organized groups.
• Build and nurture relationships with cooperative societies, negotiate partnerships and represent the company at sector forums.
• Lead sales planning, acquisition, retention and profitability of the cooperative portfolio across branches and distribution channels.
• Identify market gaps, collaborate with underwriting and product teams to create tailored insurance solutions for cooperative members.
• Coach and develop the cooperative team, set performance targets and foster a high‑performance culture.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, monitor portfolio risks and provide regular performance reporting to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Insurance, Cooperative Management or related field; professional insurance qualification (e.g., ACII, CII) is preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience working with cooperatives, demonstrating strong business development, stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
