Head Teacher (Primary School)

About the role

The Head Teacher will provide academic and administrative leadership for Jasper Primary School‑Nyairongo, overseeing daily school operations and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and high‑quality learning environment. This is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Nyairongo, Western Uganda.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor teaching staff, fostering professional growth.
• Guide curriculum planning and implementation with a focus on project‑based, learner‑centered approaches.
• Collaborate with school management and community stakeholders to align activities with the school’s vision and values.
• Monitor student progress and support targeted interventions for diverse learning needs.
• Lead staff development initiatives, encouraging modern teaching methods and digital tools.
• Ensure compliance with national educational standards and school policies.

Required profile

• Recognized teaching qualification/certification in Primary Education and/or Early Childhood Development.
• Relevant experience as a teacher in a primary or ECD setting.
• Experience in an administrative, coordination, supervisory or school leadership role.
• Good knowledge of teaching, learning, learner assessment and school administration.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Runyoro or another locally spoken Bantu language.
• Commitment to inclusive, child‑centered and community‑based education.
• Willingness to reside in or around Nyairongo Village and start work immediately.
