HR Executive (Kampala, Uganda)

About the role

Salvo Grima Group is seeking an HR Executive to establish and lead the full HR function at its Kampala office. Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive HR operational excellence, align people strategies with business goals, and ensure compliance with Ugandan labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies that support overall business objectives.
• Partner with senior leadership to advise on organisational design, workforce planning and change management.
• Set up scalable HR operations, policies, procedures and frameworks.
• Maintain accurate employee records, contracts and HRIS data; manage attendance, leave and time‑keeping systems.
• Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for all levels, working with agencies and line managers.
• Design and deliver structured onboarding programmes.
• Act as primary point of contact for employee relations, fostering an inclusive, high‑performance culture.
• Manage disciplinary processes, grievance handling and conflict resolution in line with company policy and Ugandan law.
• Drive performance management, including KPIs, appraisals and probation reviews.
• Identify training needs and coordinate learning initiatives; support leadership development and succession planning.
• Coordinate payroll inputs with Finance and support compensation benchmarking.
• Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, health & safety standards and maintain audit‑ready records.
• Prepare periodic HR reports and collaborate with the Malta HR team for process alignment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Proven experience managing comprehensive HR functions, preferably in a multi‑country environment.
• Strong knowledge of Ugandan labour laws and statutory compliance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
