HR Officer

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will manage the day‑to‑day operations of Alight’s HR department in the Uganda Enterprise, reporting to the Enterprise Head of HR. The role provides routine HR support to staff, promotes the organization’s culture and values, and contributes to the broader Office of the People team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage HR correspondence such as recommendation letters, bank letters, and certificates of service.
• Support staff leave planning and ensure compliance with leave policies.
• Coordinate with IT to create and deactivate email and mailing‑list accounts for new and departing staff.
• Maintain up‑to‑date staff documentation and records.
• Oversee staff clearance processes and ensure timely payment of terminal benefits.
• Prepare, track, and issue offer letters and employment contracts.
• Explain the benefits package to staff and administer its components.
• Update and share monthly staff lists with the Office of the People.
• Initiate and coordinate recruitment requests with hiring managers in line with Alight’s recruitment policy.
• Post job advertisements on appropriate channels and maintain a recruitment resource database.

Required profile

• Experience in HR administration and recruitment processes.
• Familiarity with HR policies, staff documentation, and benefits administration.
• Ability to work collaboratively with IT and other departments.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
