Human Resources Officer (Mid-level)

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will manage the day‑to‑day operations of Alight’s HR function in the Uganda Enterprise. Reporting to the Enterprise Head of HR, the officer ensures staff receive timely support, upholds the organisation’s values and contributes to a safe, inclusive workplace across on‑site, hybrid and remote settings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage HR correspondence such as recommendation letters, bank letters and certificates of service.
• Support staff leave planning and ensure compliance with leave policies.
• Coordinate with IT to create and deactivate email accounts and mailing‑list access for new and departing staff.
• Maintain up‑to‑date staff records and documentation, including staff clearance and terminal benefit payments.
• Prepare, track and issue offer letters and employment contracts, and guide staff through benefits packages.
• Update and share monthly staff lists with the Office of the People team.
• Initiate and coordinate recruitment requests with hiring managers, overseeing the hiring process from start to finish.

Required profile

• Mid‑level HR professional with experience in HR administration and recruitment.
• Ability to travel up to 40 % of the time for field work.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian contexts and commitment to Alight’s values.
