Import & Export Supervisor

About the role

The Import & Export Supervisor leads daily operations of Twyford International's Uganda Import and Export Department, ensuring smooth trade, factory imports and export activities while building team capability and maintaining compliance with international trade regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily departmental activities, plan and monitor import/export processes to meet business and production requirements.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve operating procedures, eliminating inefficiencies.
• Lead, coach and develop the Import & Export team through onboarding, training and performance monitoring.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, Warehouse, Production and Sales, and liaise with customs authorities, shipping lines and freight forwarders.
• Oversee complex customs clearance, resolve documentation discrepancies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage factory import/export projects, monitor timelines, identify risks and report on shipment status and departmental performance.

Required profile

• Master's degree in international trade, logistics, supply chain management, business administration or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum five years in international trade, logistics, customs or import/export management.
• At least two years of proven supervisory or team‑management experience.
• Experience with import/export operations in Africa and supporting manufacturing or factory imports is highly desirable.
