IT Officer (Kampala)

About the role

The IT Officer reports to the Head of Operations and is responsible for delivering reliable IT support, maintaining the technology infrastructure and ensuring system availability and security across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support to staff, resolving hardware, software, network and system issues.
• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot computers, printers, telecommunications equipment and other IT devices.
• Manage user accounts, access rights, passwords and permissions.
• Monitor and maintain IT systems, networks, servers and internet connectivity, performing routine maintenance, updates and patches.
• Implement and monitor security controls, antivirus updates, backups and recovery procedures.
• Support IT projects, system upgrades and digital transformation initiatives.
• Coordinate with vendors, maintain inventory of equipment, software licences and contracts.
• Document configurations, incidents and produce performance and security reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
• Minimum two years’ experience in IT support, systems administration or networking.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality and manage time effectively.
