About the role

The Department of Geography, Geo‑Informatics and Climatic Sciences at Makerere University seeks a dedicated Lecturer to join its teaching and research team. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while supporting the department’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Teach, examine and grade students in geography, geo‑informatics and climate science courses.
• Supervise student research projects and theses.
• Mentor junior academic staff.
• Conduct research and community outreach activities.
• Write proposals to attract funding for departmental initiatives.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• PhD in Geography, Environmental Geography, Meteorology, Climate Science/Atmospheric Science, Environmental Sciences or Management.
• Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the same fields.
• At minimum, an Upper Second Class Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology or a Postgraduate Diploma in Meteorology.
