Movement Operations Assistant (Field Support) – 7 Positions

About the role

IOM, a UN-related organization working on migration, is recruiting seven Movement Operations Assistants (Field Support) in Kampala, Uganda, under the supervision of the Head of Movement Operations and the Senior Movement Operations Associate for Arua. The post covers field support activities in areas such as airports, transit centres, third-party facilities, camp-based operations or sub-offices, and in relation to transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake field support activities in an assigned area, such as an airport, transit centre, third-party facility, camp-based operation or sub-office, or in relation to transportation.
• Perform airport services, including custodial care of travel documents.
• Verify identities and documents, including exit permissions, visas, tickets and other items in the travel bag.
• Assist with airport formalities such as flight arrivals, curb-side assistance, check-in, luggage formalities and immigration procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma with 4 years of work experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Social Science, International Relations, Regional Studies or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Prior Movement Operations or transportation experience is strongly preferred.
• Fluency in one of IOM's official languages (English, French or Spanish); proficiency is assessed during selection.
• Applicants must be medically fit, meet any residency or visa requirements and obtain security clearances.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and ability to organize.
• Self-motivated and objective-driven.
