MSC Riding Gang Supervisor

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced MSC Riding Gang Supervisor to lead shipboard maintenance, preservation, and repair teams supporting a U.S. Navy program. The role involves coordinating daily work on MSC vessels, ensuring compliance with Navy and industry standards, and maintaining safety and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise Riding Gang personnel performing maintenance, preservation, and repair aboard MSC vessels.
• Coordinate daily assignments, schedules, and task execution for multi‑trade teams while vessels are underway or in port.
• Oversee mechanical, structural, and general maintenance activities in line with MSC, Navy, and industry standards.
• Ensure proper use and accountability of tools, materials, PPE, and equipment.
• Inspect completed work for quality, safety, and compliance with technical specifications.
• Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation of operations, labor hours, and material usage.
• Support onboarding, training, and safety briefings for Riding Gang personnel.
• Collaborate with ship leadership, engineering teams, and Amentum management to align activities with vessel maintenance schedules.
• Provide regular progress updates to leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in shipboard maintenance, preservation, or repair operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; marine maintenance or technical trade training preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required facility credentials and visas.
• Proficiency in English sufficient for contract performance and emergency procedures.
• Valid passport for at least one year at hiring.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements.
