National Consultant for Uganda VACW Survey (7‑month contract)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a National Consultant to provide technical and coordination support for the Violence against Children and Women (VACW) Survey in Uganda. This 7‑month consultancy will be office‑based in Kampala with travel to survey sites and stakeholder meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Represent UNICEF in meetings and workshops related to the VACW Survey.
• Support the National Statistical Office in refining methodology, tools, and guidelines for the survey.
• Finalize the VACW Survey plan and budget in collaboration with national partners and UNICEF Country Office.
• Ensure ethical protocols are integrated into survey implementation.
• Coordinate technical reviews by experts and manage feedback from stakeholders and UBOS.
• Archive all survey‑related documents and deliverables throughout the process.
• Participate in Steering and Technical Committee meetings.
• Document lessons learned, challenges, and best practices for future surveys.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Demography, Economics/Econometrics, Epidemiology or a related field with a strong statistical component.
• Minimum 5 years of experience coordinating or managing national quantitative household surveys.
• Prior experience with DHS, Uganda National Household Survey, Population Census, VAC surveys or similar large‑scale surveys.
• Experience working with or supporting a National Statistical Office.
• Proven ability to work in Uganda or the East African region is highly desirable.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
