Nutritionist – Community Health & Education

About the role

The Africa Women Development Initiative is seeking a full‑time Nutritionist to join its on‑site team in Uganda. You will support the health and wellbeing of women, teen mothers, and children by providing tailored nutrition guidance and education within the communities we serve.

Key responsibilities

• Assess nutritional needs of individuals and groups and develop culturally appropriate meal plans.
• Provide counseling on healthy eating, weight management, and nutrition for different life stages.
• Design and deliver nutrition education sessions, workshops, and school‑based programs.
• Collaborate with program staff to integrate nutrition into income‑generating projects and educational initiatives.
• Document interventions, monitor outcomes, and contribute to regular reporting.
• Work closely with local health providers, schools, and community leaders to strengthen community‑based nutrition education.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge and practical experience in Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Experience in nutritional counseling, weight management, and community nutrition education.
• Diploma or degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field.
• Background in community‑based or NGO settings, preferably in low‑resource or rural environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multilingual, multicultural communities.
• Ability to collect basic program data, monitor results, and produce clear reports.
• Proficiency in local Ugandan languages and familiarity with local food systems.
