Obstetrician (ERT) – Full‑time Position

About the role

The International Medical Corps is seeking a qualified Obstetrician/Gynecologist (Ob‑Gyn) to provide comprehensive maternal and newborn care in Kamwokya, Uganda. The role involves direct clinical services, patient education, and coordination with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe pregnancies and deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct prenatal check‑ups, screenings, and counseling for expectant mothers.
• Monitor labor progress, manage complications, and perform deliveries, including assisted vaginal births and cesarean sections.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies such as preeclampsia, placental abruption, umbilical cord prolapse, postpartum hemorrhage, and shoulder dystocia.
• Provide neonatal resuscitation and stabilize newborns with complications.
• Collaborate with neonatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other health professionals.
• Educate patients on warning signs during pregnancy and promote timely medical attention.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper referrals.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Minimum 36 months (3 years) of relevant clinical experience.
• Mid‑level professional able to work independently and handle emergencies.

Required skills

• Cesarean section surgery.
• Forceps and vacuum‑assisted delivery.
• Neonatal resuscitation.
• Management of obstetric emergencies (preeclampsia, placental abruption, umbilical cord prolapse, postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia).
