Ophthalmologist – Specialized Eye Care Physician

About the role

The International Medical Corps is seeking a qualified Ophthalmologist to deliver comprehensive eye care services in Kamwokya, Uganda. You will join a multidisciplinary team to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of ocular conditions for both out‑patient and in‑patient populations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ophthalmology consultations for diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
• Perform ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract extraction and other applicable procedures.
• Screen, treat, and manage vision disorders and ocular infections.
• Provide inpatient eye‑related consultations as needed.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging related to ophthalmology.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure integrated patient care.
• Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection control, and clinical protocols.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with postgraduate training in Ophthalmology.
• Valid medical license and board certification or equivalent specialization in Ophthalmology.
• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology, including surgical practice.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary clinical environments.
• Proficiency in English.
