About the role
The International Medical Corps is seeking a qualified Ophthalmologist to deliver comprehensive eye care services in Kamwokya, Uganda. You will join a multidisciplinary team to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of ocular conditions for both out‑patient and in‑patient populations.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct ophthalmology consultations for diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
- Perform ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract extraction and other applicable procedures.
- Screen, treat, and manage vision disorders and ocular infections.
- Provide inpatient eye‑related consultations as needed.
- Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging related to ophthalmology.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure integrated patient care.
- Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection control, and clinical protocols.
Required profile
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with postgraduate training in Ophthalmology.
- Valid medical license and board certification or equivalent specialization in Ophthalmology.
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology, including surgical practice.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary clinical environments.
- Proficiency in English.
