Parish Chief – Local Government Administration

About the role

The Parish Chief is responsible for the overall administration and management of a Parish Unit within the local government structure. This role ensures effective delivery of public services, revenue collection, community mobilisation and enforcement of policies and bylaws.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and compile performance reports on parish operations for the Sub‑County Chief.
• Collect, account for and report local revenue generated in the parish.
• Develop work plans and budgets to guide parish activities.
• Enforce national and local government policies, programmes and council bye‑laws.
• Mobilise the parish community for development programmes and projects.
• Provide technical support and secretariat services to the Parish Council.
• Manage and monitor government and district projects implemented at the parish level.
• Coordinate and maintain law and order within the parish.

Required profile

• Diploma from a recognised institution in Public Administration and Management, Social Work, Development Studies or Business Administration.
• Post‑basic training of at least two years in education, environment or public administration is an advantage.
