People Operations Associate

About the role

We are looking for a proactive People Operations Associate to keep our Kampala office running smoothly. You will own HR processes, office administration and employee experience, supporting Wave’s mission to build a cash‑less Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain HR policies, procedures and administrative systems across Wave Uganda.
• Onboard new staff, manage employee records (compensation, benefits, promotions, performance reviews, terminations) and process work permits.
• Serve as the primary HR business partner for all people‑related matters.
• Oversee day‑to‑day office operations, including front‑desk, utilities, security, supplies, equipment and health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Coordinate acquisition of new office spaces and related logistics.
• Supervise, mentor and train office staff, manage budgets, procurements and vendor relationships.
• Arrange domestic and international travel, and plan corporate events such as happy hours, retreats and conferences.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in HR or people operations, preferably in a fast‑growing environment.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, employee lifecycle management and compliance.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with a data‑driven mindset.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and support a dynamic team.
