Primary Data Collection Consultant – Nature‑based Solutions Evaluation

About the role

Farm Radio International is seeking an experienced consultant to lead primary field data collection for the final evaluation of its gender‑inclusive Nature‑based Solutions project in Uganda. The role involves quantitative household surveys, community assessments, focus groups and in‑depth interviews across three regions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a quantitative household survey covering 550 respondents and a community‑level survey across 30‑60 communities.
• Conduct 12 focus group discussions and 7 in‑depth interviews with key stakeholders.
• Produce an inception report, detailed field report, raw and cleaned data sets, and a qualitative analysis report.
• Coordinate with the Regional MERL Coordinator, Country Project Lead and local partners to ensure smooth field deployment.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Evaluation, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Development Studies or related field.
• Minimum 7 years experience managing large‑scale quantitative and qualitative data collection in rural settings.
• Proven experience evaluating agricultural extension, climate‑change adaptation or Nature‑based Solutions programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work in local languages and apply gender‑equality and inclusion principles.

Required skills

• KoboToolbox and other mobile data‑collection tools.
• Quantitative survey design and sampling methodology.
• Qualitative interview techniques, focus‑group facilitation, transcription and translation.
• Data cleaning and preparation for analysis.
