Program Officer - Child Protection

About the role

The Program Officer – Child Protection will lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of child protection activities for Save the Children in Kasese, Uganda. You will work closely with local partners, government officials and community stakeholders to ensure vulnerable children receive timely case management and support.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support situation and needs assessments to shape appropriate interventions.
• Identify children at risk and ensure they receive individual case management in line with national guidelines.
• Oversee case management processes, referrals and liaison with statutory duty bearers such as Social Welfare Officers, Police Child and Family Protection Units and other service providers.
• Implement child protection activities according to the project implementation plan and budget, ensuring weekly planning and accurate expenditure tracking.
• Maintain up‑to‑date child protection and beneficiary databases, including SCI operational systems like PRIME.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical support, coaching and monitoring to community partners and other stakeholders.
• Collect monitoring data, prepare regular reports and use project indicators to inform programme adjustments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in planning, coordinating and delivering child protection programmes.
• Familiarity with national child protection frameworks and case management guidelines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, UN partners and local NGOs.
• Strong organisational skills to manage budgets, schedules and reporting requirements.
